Calling all ogre enthusiasts, fairy tale aficionados, and music lovers alike! Are you ready to embark on a journey to own a piece of pop culture history? Introducing our whimsically ambitious juicebox crowdfunding campaign to buy the music royalties for the entire Shrek franchise, a portion of which are currently for sale.

The royalty asset we are buying earns from music written for the award-winning Shrek film franchise. The catalog generates royalties when the films air on TV, are streamed online, when this music is streamed in the films’ soundtracks and anytime the music plays on Shrek’s theme park rides.

The catalog includes royalties from the four feature films: Shrek, Shrek 2, Shrek the Third, and Shrek Forever After. It also earns from the holiday TV special Shrek The Halls and any time this music is used in other TV, film, or commercial programming. For example, a scene of Shrek is prominently featured in the 2007 Will Smith movie I Am Legend. Subsequently, this catalog earns a public performance royalty when I Am Legend airs on TV or is streamed as well (https://youtu.be/3vRURA8IBAo?si=iA8HyBHeuXd9XCw6).

Includes iconic banger tracks like: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Lijm2eCH9U

What we get

Some portion of the public performance rights to the musical composition — This means we get paid whenever the original music (as listed) from any of the first four shrek movies and the holiday special are played whether that be on a streaming platform, in other media like I am Legend, or at your local ice cream parlor.

We get these rights so long as there is a valid copyright.

A total of 785 tracks from the franchise are included.

The DAO will decide what actions it takes through SWAMP token voting.

What we DO NOT get

  • Anything to do with the licensed music which appears in the Shrek movies (i.e. no All Star or I’m a Believer).
  • The synch fees — one time fees paid to license the music for use in another medium
  • The mechanical fees — fees earned when the song is sold (i.e. itunes revenue)
  • Any copyright rights to the songs, we cannot choose where the song is played in any way.

The DAO would not get any license to use any of Dreamworks’s copywritten material. This entity (and the DAO) could be sued by Dreamworks.
